Governor Danbaba Suntai has been away from his job as governor of Nigeria’s northern state of Taraba, since October last year, after a plane crash.
Today, he returned home in Jalingo, to a rapturous welcome by his people, after a long spell in hospitals in Nigeria, Germany and United States.
His handlers and spinners said he is as fit as the fiddle and ready to start work, for which he was elected for a second term in 2011.
But there are doubts whether he is really fit, with reports that the governor’s cognitive ability may have been permanently damaged as a result of the crash.
Governor Suntai has not helped a bit to clear the doubts, as he is yet to utter a word since he landed on Nigerian soil, first of all in Abuja and later in Jalingo, his state capital.
According to NAN, Suntai was welcomed home by a jubilant crowd, when he arrived Jalingo airport at 3.45 p.m. aboard a Dornier number 5N IJY.
NAN said he was supported out of the plane by his wife, Hauwa, and other friends. And He was quickly taken into a waiting Range Rover car to Government House.
“Heavy security presence at the airport prevented many from catching a glimpse of the governor.
The questions are: Why would a governor that has sufficiently recuperated not willing to speak to his people; why all the Berlin walls around him if everything is alright?
We present three photographs of the governor as captured at the airport in Abuja.
