Armed men kill 8 in fresh Plateau attacks
The victims were killed in two separate attacks.
Armed men on Sunday night attacked Shwan Village in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing six people including five siblings.
The Police Public Relation Officer in Plateau, Felicia Anslem, confirmed the attackon Monday morning in a telephone interview. She said though no arrest has been made, the police were on the trial of the suspects.
Ms. Anslem said the remains of the victims have been taken to a hospital she could not disclose at press time.
A resident, who narrated the account of the Kuru incident, revealed that the attackers invaded the area at about 9 p.m. on Sundaynight. He said the victims were killed in their various compounds.
In a related development, two persons, including an eight-year-old boy, were on Sunday morning killed in their farm in Kuka Village of Shendam Local Government Area of Southern Plateau.
The deceased, according to sources, were killed on their farm by yet to be identified gunmen in Kuka Village.
Witnesses said the deceased were found dead on their farm at about 10 a.m. on Sunday when food was taken to the farmers by their relations.
The names of the Kuka victims were given as Shuaibu Danladi, 65, and his grandson, Danjuma Umar, 8.
The remains of the victims were taken to the local police outpost in Kuka for confirmation, and were later buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
