FAW Couture has finally showcased its ready-to-wear women’s wear collection in Lagos. The collection themed, The African Warrior Princess, celebrated African warrrior princess in all her strength and splendour.
Explaining the label, the founder and Creative Director, Mr. Saheed Fawehinmi said: “The African amazon forges through life surmounting all odstacles, against all odds. She is the professional, wife, sister, homemaker and mother to us all. She juggles all these seemingly complex roles and still manages to maintain her mental and physical equilibrium. She carries with her, her pride and pedigree as her hallmark, her strength and determination as the bulwark of her ever shining, ebullient and effervescent beauty in its lasting glory.
This collection salutes her in all her feminity and strenght as we pay homage to all amazons dead and alive whose footprints and voices have shaped humanity through the ages from the great Queen Amina of Zaria to Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti to the larger than life Winnie Mandela, Mrs. H. I.D Awolowo, the late Ameyo Adadevo and my own mother Mrs. Ganiat Fawehinmi”. These heroines, according to Fawehinmi, are all linked to a positive and developmental part of history worthy of emulation. “They have participated directly or as ctalysts behind the scenes as support for their spouses to shape society. With this body of work we celebrate them and all women in general. As exemplary as their lives are, we spotlight their achievements with pride and in full glory for all young African warrior princess to emulate in becoming a positive part of our African continental uplift”.
The clothes came in casuals, smart casuals and clothes for working women. Some of them came in colourful ankara fabrics.
