Condoling with the bereaved families at the weekend, the state Deputy Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Mohammed, attributed the incident to the current insecurity across the country.
He said the killings could have been politically motivated, adding that prayers from Muslims were the only solution to the problem.
The deputy governor, who was at Ruwan Mesa to commiserate with the victims’ families, advised them to remain calm and law abiding as measures were already in place to bring the perpetrators to book.
He assured them of the state government’s commitment to the protection of lives and property of all citizens.
The deputy governor advised the people of the community and the entire Muslim Umma to engage in intensive prayers for peace to reign in the state and country at large.
It was gathered that the cattle rustlers had stormed the sleepy village of Ruwan Mesa in the early hours of Thursday.
A villager, who identified himself as Mamman Ruwan Mesa told Daily Sun that due to the attack, many people were planning to leave the village.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Lawal Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, adding that security personnel had been deployed to restore peace in the area.
